History of Basant Panchami

History of Basant Panchami

Regarding its historical importance, it is believed that Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe, created the creatures and humans. When Brahma Ji creates the universe and looks in that world, he sees only a deserted place around him. The atmosphere seems completely calm as if no one’s voice is there. Even after doing all this, Brahma Ji was not disappointed, sad, and satisfied. Then Brahma Ji, taking permission from Lord Vishnu Ji, sprinkles water on the earth with his Kamandal. The water falling on the earth from the Kamandal causes the earth to vibrate.

In the form of wonderful power, a beautiful four-armed (four-armed) Devi appears. That goddess holds a Veena in one hand and Vara Mudra in the other. On the other hand, there was a book and a rosary. Brahma Ji requests that the Devi play the veena. By playing the veena of the goddess, all the creatures of the world get the voice. From that moment onwards the goddess was called “Saraswati”. Along with speech, that goddess also gave knowledge and intellect. Therefore Saraswati is worshiped at home on the day of Basant Panchami. In other words, the second name of Basant Panchami is also “Saraswati Puja”. Goddess Saraswati is worshiped by many names including Bagishwari, Bhagwati, Sharda, Veenavadani, and Vagdevi.
